Shade Structures

by Patrick on February 22, 2013

These are a pair of designed-and-built shade structures for Oaktown Native Plant Nursery in Berkeley.

The frames of the structures were constructed of 2.5 in Gavanized pipe with each pillar cemented into the ground. For the joints we used Key-Clamps, which are not cheap but are super reliable, strong and easy to work with.

The smaller structure is 24′ x 24′ and the larger one is 40′ x 48′, providing 2500 square feet of shade. The structures came out great and we were able to save Oaktown over $2000 as compared to the standard structure kits that are available online.
